Every MidStays destination across Arizona and California offers the same thing: verified, fully furnished homes you can live in for 29 nights to eleven months. Each home is inspected by a local property manager before you arrive and includes a full kitchen and in-home laundry.
What changes between destinations is the season, the altitude, and the drive. The Arizona desert and the California low desert are at their best from November through April. The California coast stays mild all year but turns gray and cool in May and June. Mountain destinations like Flagstaff, Idyllwild, Lake Arrowhead and the White Mountains trade summer heat for real winter snow, chains on the tires, and heating bills.
So choose the destination first, then the home. Decide which months you need to be there, how close you need to be to an airport or a medical facility, and whether you want a quiet single-level home in the desert or pines outside the door. Then compare the homes that are actually available for your dates.
The table below is the honest version of each region: what it is genuinely good for, and the months you should think twice about before committing to 90 days.
Arizona vs. California, season by season
The Arizona desert and the California low desert are at their best from November through April, and genuinely hard from June through September, when highs over 100°F are routine and daytime life moves indoors. The mountain destinations flip it: comfortable summers, then real winter snow. The California coast is mild all year but gray and cool through May and June. Nobody markets the hard months, so here they are.

Two practical notes. Desert winter months book earliest. Snowbird season runs November to April and repeat residents often hold the same home year to year. And in the mountain destinations, ask your local manager about winter access and whether the driveway is plowed before you commit to a January arrival.
