Extending your stay
Yes. Ask your local manager to extend before your current dates end, and if the home is open for the dates you need, MidStays adds them to your existing stay. Extensions depend on availability, so the earlier you ask, the better. Rates for the new dates may differ from your original quote.
Extensions are common. A travel nurse whose 13-week contract turns into 26 weeks. A seasonal traveler who decides March is worth staying for. A family whose repairs run longer than anyone promised. The pattern is the same: ask early, get the new dates confirmed, and keep living in the home you already know.
Utilities and any applicable fees are shown on each home's listing and in your quote before you book. That is true of your original dates and of any dates you add.
Your options
There are three. Extend your current stay in the same home, rebook that same home for next season, or move to a different verified home in the same destination or a nearby one. Every option still starts at a 29-night minimum, because MidStays only does stays of a month or more.
Tell your local manager as soon as you know you need more time. If the home is open for your new dates, those dates are added to your existing stay and you never pack a bag. You see a quote for the added dates before anything is confirmed.
Seasonal travelers often lock in the same home close to a year ahead. Before you leave, tell your local manager you want it again, and ask to hear from MidStays when next season's dates open on that listing. Popular winter homes go early.
If the home is already reserved after your dates, ask about other verified homes nearby. Each one is inspected by a local manager the same way, so a move is a change of address, not a change in what you can count on.
Check three things. Whether the home is open for your new dates, which only your local manager can answer. What the added dates will cost, since mid-term rates move with the season — see how MidStays pricing works. And what happens if plans change, which is covered in the MidStays cancellation policy.
It also helps to re-read what every home includes, because a longer stay puts more weight on the kitchen and the laundry than a short one ever does: what's included in every MidStays home. If you are moving to a different home instead of extending, start with MidStays destinations across Arizona and California.
Not sure who to ask? Contact MidStays and you will be pointed to the local manager for your home.
Contact your local manager, or reach MidStays through the contact page, and give the new end date you need. The local manager checks the calendar for that specific home. If those dates are open, MidStays sends a quote covering the added nights, and the extension is confirmed once you accept it.
As early as you know. Mid-term calendars fill months out, especially in the Arizona and California desert destinations between November and April. Asking a month or more before your current end date gives you far better odds than asking in your final week. Availability is never guaranteed, no matter when you ask.
No. The home may already be reserved for the dates after yours, and MidStays will not move someone else's stay to make room. That is exactly why earlier is better. If the home is unavailable, your local manager can point you toward other verified homes in the same destination.
Not necessarily. Rates for the new dates may differ from your original quote, because mid-term rates move with the season and with how far ahead dates are reserved. You see the rate for the added dates, plus any fees, deposits, and taxes set by that specific property, before you confirm.
This is the most common reason people extend. A 13-week assignment that becomes 26 weeks means you need roughly three more months in the same home. Tell your local manager the moment the extension is signed, or even while it is still in progress, so the calendar can be watched for you.
Tell your local manager right away, then check the terms that applied to your booking. Shortening or ending a mid-term stay is governed by the cancellation terms shown when you booked, not by an extension request. The MidStays cancellation policy page explains how notice and any refund are handled.
Yes, and seasonal travelers usually do. People who return to the same Arizona or California home each winter tend to reserve the following season before they drive home. Tell your local manager you want the same home again, and ask to be contacted as soon as those dates open on the listing.
Tell your local manager the dates you need. If the home is open, the added dates join the stay you are already living in. If it is not, there are other verified homes in the same destination, each inspected before arrival. Minimum stay is 29 nights.
