Nido en la Ventana

Two bedrooms, two bathrooms and 1,441 square feet in Ventana Canyon, in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson — a very quiet neighborhood, and a home already set up for stays measured in months. The minimum stay here is 30 nights.

The kitchen was recently updated and is fully equipped, whether that means putting together a healthy meal or just brewing the morning cup of coffee. The living room has an oversized sectional and a large flat-screen TV. Bedrooms are spacious, the bathrooms are large, and there is a private washer and dryer — laundry you never have to plan around.

Out back you have the community pool and spa, heated year-round and a very short walk from the home. Mature desert landscaping and quiet streets do the rest. It suits snowbird stays and remote work stays, which is most of who comes here.

It is a short walk to the Ventana Canyon golf courses, and the guest pro shop for public check-in is right around the corner. Sabino Canyon Recreation Area is less than three miles away, with tram rides that run from the entrance toward Seven Falls. The Mount Lemmon Scenic Byway, Catalina State Park and Coronado National Forest put hiking, cycling and bird-watching in easy reach.

For shopping and eating, La Encantada is a six-mile drive, with steakhouses and Mexican and Italian dining. Downtown Tucson is 13 miles out for historic 4th Ave, the Barrio Arts districts, the Tucson Museum of Art and the city's food scene. One practical note: parking is in the garage for two mid-size cars, with no parking on the street or in the driveway, and no RVs or campers.
