The Sonoran Oasis

A five-bedroom house in a quiet North Mesa neighborhood, with a private pool in the backyard. The pool is not heated — better to know that now than in January.

Inside, the interior is bright and the living space is well appointed: plush furniture, a fireplace to curl up by with a book, and a large TV. Streaming services are available, but you log in using your own accounts. The full kitchen has stainless steel appliances and plenty of cabinet space, which is the difference between cooking for a month and giving up on it.

The spacious primary bedroom has a private entrance to the backyard and pool and an en suite bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower. The other bedrooms are a quiet place to recharge. A pool table and a ping pong table cover the evenings nobody wants to go out.

Just outside: hiking trails and scenic desert landscape at Usery Mountain Regional Park, golf courses nearby, and Sloan Park and Hohokam Stadium, where Cactus League spring training brings major-league baseball to Mesa each spring.

Also close: the Arizona Commemorative Air Force Museum at Falcon Field, Riverview Park, the Arizona Museum of Natural History and Mesa Arts Center. Old Town Scottsdale is about 10 miles away, with shopping, dining, nightlife and art galleries.
