A two-bedroom house in central Phoenix with a split floor plan — the two bedrooms sit at opposite ends of the hallway with the shared full bathroom between them. Over a month, that distance matters.

The kitchen has been updated with butcher block counters and everything you need to cook for yourself. The living room and attached dining area are the heart of the house, with room to settle in over a DVD movie, a book or a board game.

The backyard is spacious and fenced, with fruit trees, desert landscaping, low-maintenance turf and outdoor games. There is a covered courtyard where you can grill and a front porch out front. Yard games, an ice chest and adult bikes are provided.

The location is central: close to downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, near several major highways, with metro light rail stations as close as 2 miles away. Phoenix International Airport is 5 miles away, along with the Phoenix Zoo, the Desert Botanical Gardens, sporting and concert venues and shopping and dining districts. Take the mountain bikes or beach cruisers out on one of the nearby water canal paths, or head for hiking and biking trails within 5 miles at Piestewa Peak or Camelback Mountain.

The house is dog-friendly, and colorful landscaping and stained-glass doors are the first thing you see when you pull up.
