A fully renovated three-bedroom, two-bath house of 1,956 square feet in Desert Park Estates, north Palm Springs, sleeping six. The floor plan is open and modern, the ceilings are vaulted, and picture windows face the pool, so the house feels considerably larger than its footprint.

The kitchen is the centerpiece: a chef's kitchen with stone countertops, top-of-the-line appliances and ample workspace. The master bedroom has a sitting area, a large private bath and French doors onto the covered patio and grassy area, and there is an attached sunroom on top of that. Five TVs and Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, and air conditioning cover the essentials, and the fully stocked game room has board games and ping pong — the pinball machine is decorative only.

Out back there is a pool with a diving board, a pool spa, a barbecue, plenty of room for lounging, and a covered patio set up for eating outside. Pool and/or spa heating can be purchased for an extra fee of $50-$90 per day depending on the size of the pool; it can take up to 48 hours to heat, so ask before you arrive.

Practical details: parking for three vehicles — one inside the garage and two on the large circle driveway, a maximum of 3 cars per Palm Springs permit. Up to two pets are welcome, 50 lb maximum each. Downtown Palm Springs and its shops, restaurants and attractions are a short drive. Pool service comes Mondays and Thursdays and the yard is done Tuesdays, so you will see local staff during the week. City ordinance requires an in-person or virtual check-in for every reservation, which your local manager arranges with you, and check-in starts at 4:00 pm.

Outdoor music is prohibited. Music that is played indoors must not be heard outdoors. City ordinance states that any music that is audible from the property line is a violation. If a noise complaint for music is verified by City Code Enforcement, a $500 citation will be issued.
