Four bedrooms and 2.5 baths in the Terra Lago community of Indio, set up for a stay of a month or more rather than a long weekend.

The kitchen is where a long stay is won or lost. This one is open to the living space, with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and room to cook properly. Two separate living areas, an open-concept layout and a fireplace keep the home from feeling like one room, and in-unit laundry means you are not planning your week around a laundromat.

The primary suite is on the first floor for added privacy, and its bath has a jetted tub. With four bedrooms, a spare room can be an office or simply where the suitcases live.

Outside, a furnished patio looks over the private pool and spa and a lush yard, and an outdoor dining area with a gas grill is set up for the evenings you would rather not be indoors. Pool and spa heating can be purchased for an extra fee per day; pricing varies with the size of the pool and spa, and heating can take up to 48 hours, so ask your local manager before arrival if you want it running when you land.

The community has a golf course you can pay to play, and the view from the 7th tee box is considered one of the best in the valley. The Golf Club at Terra Lago is minutes away, Joshua Tree National Park is there for a day out, and the Empire Polo Club, home of the Coachella and Stagecoach festivals, is a short drive away.
